Our studies are focused on an understanding of structure-reactivity relationships on well-defined thin oxide films grown on metal single-crystal supports. We use a variety of experimental techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopi (STM), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRAS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The reactivity under realistic conditions can be monitored by a gas chromatography (GC). In addition, a fruitful collaboration with theory groups is established.
