The activities aim at understanding the reactivity of the surfaces of reducible oxides at the atomic level. Structure-reactivity relations are established from simple to complex oxide systems. This includes, for example, oxide nanostructures and nanoparticles supported on oxide surfaces. There is strong expertise available in the preparation and characterization of various oxide thin film systems (including e.g. ceria, cobalt oxides, or titania). We apply a broad range of surface science methods (e.g. IRAS, XPS, SRPES, TPD, STM, LEED, and may others) but also various in-situ and operando spectroscopies.
